Dear Families,
Last week, we unfortunately had to postpone our Cross-Country carnival due to inclement weather. We are pleased to announce that it will now be held on Wednesday, May 22nd. The program will remain the same as previously announced, and we still require parent support on the day. Please inform Mr. Latham of your availability.
Kindergarten enrolments for 2025 are now open. All children born in 2020 are eligible to enrol. While 'in area' enrolments take priority, we offer a great option for families who commute to the city for work and need a school close by. If you or anyone you know would like to enrol in our school, please contact the school office.
On Sunday, June 2nd, the School Association has organized a 'Working Bee' to support general tidying, rubbish removal, and painting around the school. This support from parents and friends will enable the school to focus on additional projects that often get delayed due to the ongoing care and maintenance required for the school grounds and buildings. Please click here to register. One suggestion, from the School Association, is for groups to come together, such as parents of a soccer team, and to then register as a crew to work together on a particular project. Once the school has the numbers of volunteers, we will finalize the work to be completed. A free sausage sizzle and cold drinks will be provided.
As part of the DECYP process for support and providing feedback to the school, we will, this term, be having an External School Review. All schools are reviewed every 4 years. The purpose of the External School Review is to support schools in raising student achievement and sustaining high performance. The process is intended to strengthen our focus on learning and improve levels of achievement and growth, underpinned by the concept of continuous improvement. As part of the review, the panel will visit our school from Monday, June 3rd to Wednesday, June 5th, and will talk to staff, students, parents, carers, and community members.
Finally, a big congratulations to Maya Hensley, who represented Goulburn Street at the State Athletics Carnival in Launceston last Friday. Well done to Billy Budgeon and Edward Martin, who were also selected to compete but did not attend the event.
Warm Regards,
Michael
