Dear Families,
Welcome back to school for Term 3! I hope families were able to spend some valuable time together during the break and that students have returned to school ready for a fun term of learning!
This term includes many whole school events and learning opportunities for our students. Our winter sport program begins tomorrow and involves many students in the upper primary classes travelling to other local schools to participate in football and netball games on a weekly basis. Tomorrow our students will be travelling to Lansdowne Crescent Primary School for their first games. We hope they enjoy the experience this provides as they learn new physical skills and develop their teamwork!
Next week the Growing Up Program will run for students in Years 3-6. A reminder that there is a parent information session which will take place upstairs in the Early Childhood building (next to P/1E) from 8:30-9:00am on Monday 29th July.
Some events that will occur later in the term are the National Week of Action Against Bullying, and we will be holding our annual CBCA Book Week Parade on Friday 23rd August with the theme Reading is Magic! Many students in our upper primary will also be participating in the Tournament of Minds this term which is a great extra-curricular event. Please be sure to check the Noticeboard Events at the bottom of each newsletter to keep up to date with what is happening in our school.
The term break was a great chance to have some works completed around the school, both within classrooms and the school grounds. During Harmony Week students and staff created a self-portrait tile which has been compiled as a mosaic in the foyer outside the office. This is pictured below, but please pop in to take a closer look when you have a chance – it is a wonderful piece of art that provides everyone with a real sense of belonging within our school!
Those of you who venture into the 1/2S and 2/3J will notice there has been new carpet laid, and the Early Childhood building has received some fresh paint. In the playground our fences have been painted and there has been further work to the slide area. There are only groundworks to be completed on the slide so we are hopeful that this will be up and running soon.
Finally, in a staffing update, we say goodbye to Michelle Quinn who has been a valuable member of our staff for over 15 years. Michelle is well known at Goulburn Street Primary for her roles as Administration Assistant, Library Aide and Teacher Assistant. We will miss Michelle’s conversations and sense of humour, as well as her input into our library, always sharing her love of literature with the students and staff. We wish Michelle well for all the adventures her future holds! We are excited to announce that Mitch Daniels will be taking over Michelle’s role in the library at Goulburn Street Primary.
Warm regards,
Chante
