Dear Families,
It has been wonderful to return to school this week after an extended break. I’d like to personally thank the staff, led by Chante Ellerton, who have hit the ground running to ensure we’ve had a positive and productive start to Term 3.
We have many exciting events to look forward to this term, but none more so than the annual Book Week parade. This year’s theme is ‘Reading is Magic,’ and students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book characters. The Book Week parade will be held on Friday, 23rd August at 9:00 am.
To coincide with Book Week, we will also be hosting a Book Fair on Thursday, 22nd August, and Friday, 23rd August. The Book Fair is a great opportunity for families to purchase books. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
We are very pleased to provide an update on the school slide. It has been a long and challenging process, but we are finally days away from the grand opening. The final touches of landscaping and soft fall installation are happening today, and it looks amazing. We will ensure all classes have a chance to use the slide before recess and lunch breaks, as we know it will be a very popular addition to our playground.
New Canteen starts this week!
A reminder to get your orders into the office by Thursday for delivery on Friday. Students will need to bring a paper bag with their name, class and order written on it. It is preferred if money is wrapped in tin foil inside the bag. Please see attached flyer for sushi menu.
Finally, we wanted to inform families that mid-year reading assessments have begun this week. All students from Prep to Year 6 will be assessed using the DIBELS suite of reading assessments. This screening allows us to monitor the ‘reading health’ of our students and ensure we are providing support where it is most needed.
Warm regards,
Michael
