Dear Families,
It’s great to be back at work after a week off for elbow surgery! I’m happy to report the operation was a success—so my dream of joining the pro golf tour in retirement is still alive (for now!).
Our Year 6 students wrapped up their final two days of camp, returning exhausted but full of wonderful memories. The highlights? Beach swimming and, of course, the world-famous annual talent show! A huge thank you to our dedicated staff and parent volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this an unforgettable experience for our students.
A big congratulations to our Year 3-6 students who represented Goulburn Street at the Interschool Athletics Carnival at the Domain. For a small school, we had some outstanding individual and team relay results! Most importantly, our students showed incredible sportsmanship—cheering each other on and giving their personal best. Well done, team!
It's fantastic to see how the Dragon has been revitalized! A big thank you to Miss Shepherd for her dedication in restoring it – it looks incredible, and the students were thrilled to see the project completed. We're also grateful to our School Association for funding the restoration.

? Rock Ukulele Workshops ?
One of our school parents is offering a fantastic opportunity to learn the ukulele after school. Initially the workshop is open to Year 5/6 students, however, 3/4 students are welcome to register their interest. Currently we need a few more students to make it happen! If you love music or just want to try something new, please reach out to Adrian at adrian_p-t@outlook.com.
Warm regards,
Michael

Expression of Interest: Rock Ukulele Workshop

Does your child have a keen interest in music performance and a desire to explore playing in a contemporary band?
Keen and experienced GSPS parents have floated running a Rock Ukulele Workshop after school on Wednesdays. The workshop would provide GSPS students an opportunity to learn ukulele basics, with the aim of forming a ukulele rock band and perhaps performing later in the year. In addition to multiple ukuleles, there may be scope to include a rock rhythm section (e.g. drums, percussion, bass) and vocalists in the band.
Initially the workshop would be open to grade 5-6 students, but will open to grade 3-4 students should numbers allow.
There will be a very reasonably priced fee per student applied to cover costs and to contribute to GSPS fundraising.
? If your child is interested, please contact Adrian ?

This year for Harmony Week the classes in our school were challenged to create an artwork or artworks using skin colours. The artworks also had to reflect the key messages of Harmony Day of inclusion, respect, the acceptance of differences and the idea that Everyone belongs.
The artworks build on from the work we have been doing on understanding racism and creating a kind and supportive school community for everyone.
Keep an eye out around the school for these inspiring pieces of art.

This term we will be holding our first Activities Afternoon on Thursday 10th of April (1.30-3.00). Staff have offered different activities that the students from P-6 can opt into for the afternoon. Activities include cricket, basketball, clay work, slime, cooking, beading, egg dying, board games, chess, nature play, STEM challenges, coding, gardening, performance skills and Lego. Activities will be held in various locations around Goulburn Street Primary. We are looking forward to this fun afternoon.
Toast with various spreads will be on offer for all to enjoy again in Term 2. Breakfast Club will run every Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8.30-8.50am.

This term 1/2 Shepherd have been learning about mini beasts. We have been learning about the parts of insects and the life cycles of living things. We recently visited the Sustainability Centre in Mount Nelson and did a variety of activities including loose parts play creating shelters, using the microscopes to look at insects and going on a nature walk and bug hunt. Here are some photos of some of our work this term.

In 3/4CJ we have been learning about life cycles in Science. We were asked to invent a new insect that goes through metamorphosis and create a life cycle diagram about it. We then created our new insects with plasticine. Here are our incredible insects:
