Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term 3! We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful break and had the chance to spend some quality time with family and friends.
A big thank you to the School Association and the parent volunteers who organised and ran the Election Day BBQ and cake stall. It was a fantastic team effort, especially given the short time frame leading up to the election. Thanks to everyone’s support, we raised approximately $1,500, which will go towards future purchases of outdoor play equipment.
We’re also excited to share that we finally have swings at our school! They’ve already proven to be a big hit with students — so popular, in fact, that a class roster has been set up this week to ensure everyone has a turn. The purchase of these swings was made possible by the ongoing fundraising efforts of the School Association, and we’re very grateful for their support.
You may have seen that Goulburn Street Primary featured on the local news last night and in today’s paper, highlighting the recent upgrades to street crossings around the school. This work is the result of direct feedback we provided as a school community to the Travel Access Plan commissioned three years ago. The upgrades on both Forest Road and Liverpool Crescent have created safer crossing points by ensuring that both drivers and pedestrians now have clear lines of sight to each other.
A reminder that Student Portfolios are due back by the end of this week.

The Goulburn Street School Association would like to thank our wonderful parent volunteers for braving the cold windy weather to help at our Democracy sausage sizzle on Saturday. A huge thank you also to our wonderful community for coming to support us and purchase a sausage or a baked treat!
On Wednesday the 13th of August the GSPS House Swimming Carnival will be held at the Doone Kenneday Hobart Aquatic Centre, 10:00am-1.30pm for Years 3-6. There will be events for both swimmers and non swimmers and of all levels of ability. Families are welcome to come along and watch and will have to pay pool entry.
We will be holding our Annual Fathers Day Stall on Wednesday 3rd of September (Kinder are here on Mon, Tues and Wed). Gifts will be available for students to purchase ranging in price from $2.00 to $6.00 dollars. Students with money will be able to purchase when their class is called.
In our French lessons, Mrs Barretto has been working with students in Year 1/2 and 3/4 classes to create posters to enter into the Alliance Concours 2025. Year 1/2 students were asked to design pet posters and Year 3/4 students focused on French monuments. Well done to all students who participated as the standard of work was exceptional!
