Dear Families,
Now that we have been back learning at school for the past 2 weeks it certainly feels that we are back to normal. I cannot thank the community enough for your support with new requirements for adults on-site and collecting and dropping of your children in a safe and quick manner. As restrictions ease, we are hopeful that soon we will be able to welcome you all back fully onto school grounds.
As a school in 2020 we have a whole school literacy focus on the teaching and understanding of "Voice". Voice, whilst one of the most challenging aspects of speaking, drawing and writing, it is also the most important, as it is what makes your work uniquely your own. Voice is described as the writer’s music, the heart and soul, the wit, the mood and the tone. I encourage you to talk to your children at home about "Voice" when reading books, when drawing or when having conversations. Ask questions like; does this sounds like a sad or happy story? What makes you think that? What is the author trying to tell you? I encourage all parents to find out about what is happening with "Voice" in your child’s classrooms through asking questions of both your children and the class teacher.
This week we have welcomed back the “Growing Up’ program for all students in our school. The program is undertaken in our school on a biannual cycle, which focuses on age appropriate sexual education such as;
- Staying physically, emotionally and mentally healthy throughout life
- Protective behaviours, peer pressure and self-esteem
- Creating and maintaining healthy and meaningful relationships
I encourage parents to discuss the program with their children at home.
Finally, I want to remind you about the importance of sending in all enrolment requests for Kindergarten 2021 by the end of this term. This includes any out of area requests. I will be sending our confirmation letters of enrolment early term 3.
Regards
Michael Park
Last Wednesday at 11.00, classes joined with children from all around Australia for National Simultaneous Storytime. Our Grade 6 reps read to our classes, the story Whitney and Britney- Chicken Divas. The children were entertained with great expression and some costumes (in some cases). It was a fun experience for all.
Goulburn Street are now taking enrolments for 2021. If your child has a sibling that will be attending Goulburn Street next year we ask that you please return the enrolment form below if you haven't already done so. You may also be aware of neigbours or relatives intending to enrol, we would appreciate if you could ask them to make contact with the school so we can start our class planning for 2021. Thank you
School Photos have been rescheduled for Friday the 24th July. Students are required to wear full school uniform. More information to follow from Leading Image closer to the time.
