Principals Message

Dear Families,

At our whole school assembly on Friday, students shared the work we have been doing on our school values. This term we have been focusing on unpacking the value of ‘Connection’, and what it means to feel connected at Goulburn Street Primary School. What we shared was developed from input received from parents at an assembly last term, teaching staff brainstorms and classroom collaborative brainstorms, with a focus group of students from Year 2 to Year 6 bringing all the work together. Whilst there are further refinements to be made, below are the statements that describe what makes us feel connected to our school.

Our GSPS community feel connected when.

  • People are included, are involved in the school/classroom and play and work together as a team
  • We have good friends/support people who check in, we can trust and, who support each other
  • We have shared memories, traditions and experiences
  • We are inclusive and celebrate diversity
  • People celebrate successes, remind us of our strengths and complement each other
  • We regularly communicate with each other through various modes of communication (Dojo, newsletter, Facebook, conversations)
  • We have community events to join together (fairs, quiz nights, BBQs)
  • We have positive and friendly conversations with others
  • We share student learning in assemblies, classrooms and portfolios

We are very excited for our annual Children’s Book Week Parade this Friday 9:00am in the Dragon area. Students are encouraged to dress up as characters from their favourite books.  Parents and friends are invited to line up along the fence line and enjoy the parade. Staff at the school will be dressing up in a joint theme. A clue for the theme is, ‘there is no place like home’.

A reminder our book fair will be held in the Library this Thursday and Friday, families are welcome to come and look before and after school.

Warm Regards Michael
