Principals Message
Dear Families,
On Saturday, three teams of students from Goulburn Street proudly represented our school at the 2025 State Tournament of Minds Competition. What the audience saw on the day was only the tip of the iceberg – behind the scenes has been months of commitment, persistence, and teamwork.
Our students gave up multiple weekends and after-school afternoons to prepare. They tackled their long-term challenges with creativity and resilience, while also putting themselves to the test in spontaneous problem-solving sessions. Their determination, collaboration, and willingness to push themselves beyond their comfort zones has been inspiring.
The results speak volumes:
- Our STEM team and Arts team were both awarded Honours.
- Our Language and Literature team achieved 1st place and will now represent Tasmania at the International Final in Sydney.
A special thank you must go to Jillian Coe, who coordinated our Tournament of Minds program with her trademark energy and dedication. Jillian’s leadership has been central to guiding students through this journey.
Congratulations to all of our students who participated and the parent Facillitators. Your effort, courage, and teamwork have made Goulburn Street incredibly proud.
On Tuesday 9th September, we held our first ever Lego Brixhibition. It was a fantastic day, filled with excitement as our young Lego Masters showcased their creativity through imaginative and engaging designs. The level of effort and originality on display was outstanding, and it was wonderful to see so many families joining in the celebration.
A very special thank you to parent Jess Fulton for organising our inaugural Lego event. Your enthusiasm and commitment made this possible, and we are hopeful this will become an annual highlight on the GSPS calendar.
A reminder to parents and volunteers that the Safeguarding Online Learning Module must be completed by all people who are supporting students and/or attending school excursions. Click here to complete the module
This Wednesday from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, we will be holding our Open Classrooms event. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the amazing work your child has been doing, connect with teachers, and mingle with other families. We look forward to welcoming you.
Please note:
- 5/6 Clifford will hold their Open Classroom session on Wednesday morning, 8:30 am – 9:00 am.
- Due to Mrs Brelis being on leave, 3/4 Brelis will hold their session on Tuesday 23rd September, 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
Thank you to all of our families, staff, and community for your ongoing support. It is this partnership that makes our school such a special place for our students to learn and thrive.
Warm Regards
Michael
