Dear Families,

It has certainly been a very eventful week at Goulburn Street Primary School! As you are aware I was made aware in the early hours of Thursday morning last week that a section of our roof had blown off due to high winds. We are very thankful that this occurred when the school was empty.

I can report that the whole area is being completely refurbished with a new roof, carpet, ceilings and lights. I can also confirm that the two classes will also receive brand new heat pumps as a part of restoration to ensure those classrooms are comfortable throughout the year, especially in the summer months when they previously got quite hot due to all day sun.

To ensure safety the western side of the school is currently out of bounds and students in the 5/6 classes are accessing there areas through the courtyard. A big thanks to all the staff and students for their support and flexibility in relocating 3/4 Smit to the Phoenix Centre and 4/5 Coe/Clifford to the Hall. I can confirm that we will be back to fully function by day 1 term 4.

A reminder that our school is a ‘Nut Aware’ site. We have many students who are severely allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, so it is critical as a community that we keep them safe by not brining nut products to school. I will be discussing this with students at the next assembly and will be putting up reminder posters around the school to ensure this critically important policy is adhered to.
